Sapphire Circle Lunch

Last Saturday 17 August was the annual Sapphire Circle Lunch. The Sapphire Circle is a reunion for women that left the school 51+ years or more ago. This year we welcomed the Class of 1968 who joined us for the first time.

As always there was a variety of alumnae years represented ranging from 1943 to 1968. Thanks must go to the 2019 School and Vice Captains, Nikki, Ellie & Stephanie who were wonderful ambassadors for the school, greeting and chatting to the guests.

The guests were led in the school hymn by Maryanne Li (Year 12) on piano, followed by Bonnie Thorn and Genevieve Alexie (Year 12) on vocals and guitar. Zara Mammone (Year 10) performed ‘Passacaglia from Rosary Sonatas’ by Heinrich Biber. Thank you to those students for providing such a lovely atmosphere for our guests.

Also present on the day was old grammarian Elissa Goodrich (1993) who interviewed guests on their memories of school days. Elissa will weave these interviews into a musical composition which will premiere at the CGGS Performing Arts Festival that will take place in Term 1 2020.

The ladies has a trip down memory lane, which was inspired by the archival displays and slide show of Dorothy Hall. Lots of reminiscing was had by all.

Again, another wonderful lunch this year with many thanks to the Sapphire Circle Committee, Barbara Richmond, Lois Brunt, Meryl Loy, Joan Chapman, Laine Pearce, Anne Bready and Ann Ballard.

Parent volunteers dazzle at the Junior School Disco!

Last Friday over 100 Ormiston students danced the night away at the Glitter and Glow Disco! It was a fantastic evening of music, dancing singing and a plentiful amount glitter.

The Junior School Disco would not have been possible without the wonderful support of some amazing parent volunteers. Assistance was given to help decorate the room and pack the gift bags. Whilst others supported the event by supervising the girls at the Disco and packing down the event late into the evening.

Our wonderful parent volunteers play such an important role in CGGS events and activities and are a great example of how the CGGS community is so connected.

If you are interested in volunteering at school events, please contact Susannah Jepson, Community Relationships Coordinator via jepsons@cggs.vic.edu.au

Class Representative Year Level Events

There have been a variety of Year Level events organised by the Class Reps in the past two weeks.

The Year 10 Mums enjoyed a social catch up at a local establishment, whilst the Year 9 Parents had an exciting and active dinner around a Teppanyaki grill at a Japanese restaurant.

There was also a great turn out of mums and dads at a Year 6 coffee morning whilst the ELC 4 families spent a Saturday evening enjoying an early dinner.

Year 7 families spent a fun Sunday afternoon pushing themselves to the limit at an Indoor Challenge Arena, where parents and children jumped on trampolines, had a go at indoor rock climbing and battled through an obstacle course.

All upcoming year level events are listed in the What’s On each Monday.

Look out for what your Class Reps have planned in the coming weeks.
