Today Mrs Dunwoody shares a piece written by one of our School Counsellors about how to support young people during challenging times.
The Second Hand Uniform Shop (SHUS) has been operating since 2018 and was started by a loyal group of parent volunteers. The SHUS is a wonderful community service as it provides current families a way to sell outgrown uniforms and a place to purchase uniform items at an affordable price. It opens each month and was recently open on Saturday, 22 June 2024 and Monday, 24 June 2024.
The PFA has a dedicated group of parent volunteers who grade the donations, serve in the shop so that current families can purchase uniform items, and process the accounts to ensure parents are paid for their sold items.

Since its inception, the shop has generated over $100,000 in sales, with 50% of this going back to the parents. All revenue goes to the Parents and Friends Association (PFA) and is, therefore, ultimately directed back to the school to improve student’s educational outcomes. Over the past few years, the PFA has donated a kiln for the art room, play equipment for the Junior School, a bus, Laser printers, and diving blocks for the pool, to name a few.

Now we are excited to announce that Camberwell Girls Grammar School, in conjunction with the Parents & Friends Association (PFA), are partnering with the Katalyst Foundation.
Through this charity, Camberwell Girls will donate uniform items that cannot be sold in our Second Hand Uniform Shop to support impoverished communities in Fiji, giving our school uniforms a second life. Our donations will assist the Katalyst Foundation in its mission to empower underprivileged communities and create brighter futures. We can empower these communities and responsibly recycle our uniforms by working together.
