The Impact of Parent Volunteering

Parent volunteering is crucial for fostering a sense of community within the School. When parents actively engage in volunteering, they not only contribute their time and skills but also demonstrate their commitment to supporting the school’s mission and its students. Parent volunteers serve as role models for their children, showing them the value of giving back to their community and the importance of active participation in shaping their educational environment.

At Camberwell Girls, we are fortunate to have a strong parent volunteer ethos, and many volunteer groups have been supporting the School in various activities throughout May. The PFA Friends of Sport were out in full force, vocally supporting the athletes at the Secondary House Athletics competition in early May. The Friends of Sport volunteers led by Leanne Lewis and Jacqui Richmond provided our athletes and staff with sustenance. Sue Wood baked cookies for staff to enjoy at morning tea, whilst Tomoko Yamaoka, Freddy Soegijono, Tiva Souksavatha, Jessica Lu and Justin Lewis manned the BBQ to cook a sausage sizzle and serve cool drinks. Thank you for all your efforts.

Year Level Representatives (YLR) are an integral part of the CGGS Community. They provide an important link between parents and the School. The YLRs run events and activities for the CGGS parents and families throughout the year. YLRs from across the School met in person at The Hawthorn Hotel in May to share ideas, hear updates regarding the School and discuss ways they can support the School to build a strong community. It was a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet, connect and share ideas.

We thank all our volunteers for their continued support. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact Sarah Galati, Parents & Friends Relationships Coordinator via galatis@cggs.vic.edu.au or the PFA via pfa@cggs.vic.edu.au
