School Chaplain 2027 Announcement

As you are aware our School Chaplain, Reverend Helen Creed, will be retiring at the end of this year after an extraordinary 22 years of service to our community.  We are very grateful to Helen for her outstanding service and devoted ministry at Camberwell Girls.

I am delighted to announce the appointment of the Reverend Amanda Schneider as our new School Chaplain, commencing in Term 1, 2027.

Amanda joins us from Caulfield Grammar School, where she has been a dedicated Chaplain as well as a Religious Education and Music Classroom teacher over the past 10 years.  Her current Principal and colleagues speak most fondly and highly of her leadership and service to their community.  An ordained Anglican priest, Amanda brings extensive experience in school chaplaincy, pastoral care, worship and Religious Education, as well as a strong commitment to supporting students and staff.

Amanda also has a special connection to Camberwell Girls. She was a member of the graduating Class of 2003, and speaks highly, with great fondness, about her education here.  Her experience as a student at Camberwell Girls was an integral part of her faith journey and she brings with her an ‘abiding love for the School’.

In recent times we were delighted when Amanda accepted Helen’s invitation to be part of our Centenary Celebrations. She delivered the sermon at our Founders’ Day Service at St Paul’s Cathedral, speaking on the theme ‘With grateful hearts and unafraid,’ an excerpt from our School song.

Prior to joining Caulfield Grammar, Amanda was Children and Families Minister at St Mark’s Anglican Church, Camberwell, and during this time was also involved with our School through the Mustard lunchtime group.

Amanda is very excited to be returning to Camberwell Girls, and we look forward to the contribution she will make to the life of our School community.

With best wishes

Digital Ecosystem Transformation

In Australia we recognise World Teachers’ Day on 30 October, so today I start my editorial with thanks to our outstanding team of teachers and Professional Services Staff for the care and support that they show our students and the wider school community.  The many achievements and celebrations that we acknowledge throughout the year, large and small, reflect the meaningful impact of their relationships and work.  Thank you to all!

Earlier this term at the Parents and Friends Association meeting, I was pleased to introduce our Director of Digital Learning to share some of the work underway to enhance the digital experience at Camberwell Girls. We have been working with feedback from our parents, students and staff surveys, focussing on the need for a more integrated school digital ecosystem to enhance educational and community connection and experiences.  This work is also aligned with our focus on cybersafety and cybersecurity.

As we now reach the midway point of our multi-year Digital Ecosystem Transformation, many of these initiatives are beginning to take shape. Together, they are creating a more connected, intuitive and secure experience, while supporting student wellbeing and making it easier for our community to engage with School life.

At the heart of this work is Veracross, which is becoming the cornerstone of our digital ecosystem. As a School Information, School Management and Customer Relationship Management system, it brings together many of the systems and processes that support learning, School operations and our community. Alongside this, we are developing a new School website and mobile app, improving online services for families, and introducing a more sophisticated approach to managing photographs, privacy and permissions. We are also progressively transitioning from BYOD to a School-Owned student learning device model over several years, providing greater consistency while strengthening cybersecurity, digital wellbeing and the intentional use of technology.  We will be launching these initiatives in 2027.

A significant milestone ahead is the introduction of our new Parent Portal and Camberwell Girls mobile app, planned for Term 1 2027. Testing with smaller groups from our community will begin later this term to refine the experience ahead of the wider launch. These services will provide families with simpler and more convenient ways to access important information and stay connected with School life.

Importantly, this transformation is about much more than new technology. We are simplifying processes, better connecting our systems and information, strengthening our data and analytics capabilities, and advancing cybersecurity, digital wellbeing and regulatory compliance. Together, these initiatives are creating a stronger digital foundation for the School and a simpler, more connected experience for our community. I look forward to sharing more as this transformation continues.

With best wishes
