Today, the Chair of the Council announces the appointment of new members to the School Council.
One of the most significant ways senior students can be recognised for academic achievement is through the Premier’s VCE Awards. Presented annually by the Victorian Government, these prestigious awards acknowledge exceptional performance in VCE studies and celebrate students who have demonstrated outstanding dedication, perseverance and academic excellence. In 2026, just 339 Premier’s VCE Awards were presented across the state, making this a highly selective and respected honour.
Last week, Camberwell Girls was proud to have two students recognised at the Awards Ceremony for their outstanding achievements in Unit 3 and 4 studies completed in 2025:
Megan received a Premier’s VCE Award for English Language, a subject studied by over 4,196 students in 2025. As School Marcian Editor and Dux Secondus, Megan achieved an outstanding ATAR of 99.60 and a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne.
Nhumai, currently in Year 12 and serving as School Ambassador, completed Vietnamese Second Language as a Year 11 student through the Springvale Indo-Chinese Ethnic School. Of the 118 students enrolled in the subject in 2025, Nhumai was the only student to receive a Premier’s VCE Award for this subject.
These awards reflect not only academic excellence, but also intellectual curiosity and a deep commitment to learning. We congratulate Megan and Nhumai on this remarkable achievement and thank their teachers and families whose support has played such an important role in their success.
When vacancies arise on School Council through completed terms or resignations, we advertise them within our community and externally. With the appointment process now complete, I am pleased to share an announcement from our Chair of Council, Dr Nikita Weickhardt, welcoming our new Council and subcommittee members.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Following our recent recruitment process, I am delighted to welcome four new members of School Council: Mrs Susan Yap, Dr Zoe Morrison, Dr Jacqui Richmond and Dr Phyllis Fu. We also welcome Ms Cecilia Irvine-So to the Risk and Governance Committee. All are current parents who share a strong commitment to our values and bring expertise that will support the School’s strategic priorities and future direction. They were warmly welcomed at Monday evening’s Council meeting.
Susan Yap brings extensive experience in risk, governance, portfolio management, community engagement and fundraising. Her strategic clarity and commitment to purposeful community connection will enrich Council deliberations.
Jacqui Richmond, a former student and School Captain (then Senior Prefect), joins Council as an active member of our parent community. She brings energy, passion and practical experience in community engagement, mobilisation and fundraising. Many will know Jacqui as one of our Inspiring Women and through her involvement with the Parents and Friends Association.
Phyllis Fu brings strengths in strategy and governance, together with a thoughtful interest in the School’s future direction. Her focus on whole-person development, leadership, academic excellence and the role of technology and AI in future learning and operations aligns strongly with Council’s forward-looking work.
Cecilia Irvine-So joins the Risk and Governance Committee with highly relevant expertise in commercial law, regulatory compliance and charities law. She also brings a strong commitment to independent education and a clear appreciation of our School’s distinctive size, care, connectedness and academic focus. Cecilia’s work is well known across the independent school sector.
These appointments broaden the skills, perspectives and experience around the Council table, particularly in governance, strategy, risk, legal and regulatory oversight, community engagement, fundraising, innovation and long-term planning. Each appointee has demonstrated a genuine appreciation of the values, ethos and relational culture at the heart of Camberwell Girls.
At our May meeting, we also welcomed Reverend Tim Collison, the newly appointed Vicar of St Mark’s, to the position on School Council held by the Vicar. Having worked closely with Tim during his time as Assistant Vicar, we are delighted to continue our strong relationship with him and the Church.
I look forward to working with Susan, Zoe, Cecilia, Jacqui, Phyllis and Tim, and thank them for their willingness to serve our School community. I also acknowledge the ongoing work of School Council and the Executive in ensuring Camberwell Girls continues to be guided by thoughtful, values-aligned and future-focused governance.

Today, the Chair of the Council announces the appointment of new members to the School Council.
It has been a busy start to Term 3 at the Secondary School with student achievements, extension opportunities and sporting success.
It has been a fortnight full of milestones at the Junior School, including their first assembly in Barbara Sutton Hall and Foundation celebrating 100 days of school.
Thanks to dedicated PFA volunteers, the Second-Hand Uniform Shop continues to support families across our community.
