Enrolling at Camberwell Girls

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most significant decisions a parent can make, and we are delighted that you are considering Camberwell Girls Grammar School. Our Admissions team is here to guide you through every step of the enrolment process, from initial inquiries to welcoming your child into our community.

Key Intake Years

At Camberwell Girls, our intake years are:  

EL3 (3-year-old kinder)*
Foundation (the first year of primary school) – very limited places available
Year 5
Year 7   

*Children must be 3 years old by 31 January in the year they commence at our EL3 program. 

We invite enrolment applications at all year-levels, however places are limited and typically dependent on Student withdrawals which can occur throughout the year. We encourage you to contact Admissions to discuss non-intake availability and waitlist options for your child.

Enrolment Process

Places at Camberwell Girls are highly sought after. We encourage early applications to secure your position on our waitlist. For additional assistance or enquiries regarding this process, please contact our Admissions department at:

Application

Families complete and submit an online Application for Enrolment form. In addition, we ask for a copy of your child’s birth certificate and permanent or temporary resident VISA documentation (if applicable), and payment of the non-refundable $100 Application Fee.  

Please note, an application is a prerequisite to admission in order to secure a place on our waitlist. This does not guarantee an enrolment. 

Enrolment Review

Our Admissions department will contact you when they commence the enrolment review process for your requested intake year level.  

When the enrolment process starts, waitlisted families will be emailed an Admissions Questionnaire to confirm their continued intention for a place at Camberwell Girls. At this time, you will be asked to submit the following additional documentation:  

  • Most recent school reports where entry beyond Foundation is sought. 
  • Most recent NAPLAN report (as applicable). 
  • Learning support or diagnostic reports, from Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and/or Psychologists. 
  • Court orders (as applicable).

Enrolment Interview and Offer

Before an offer is made, prospective students and their families may be invited to attend an enrolment interview. This conversation, conducted by a senior member of staff provides an opportunity for you to determine whether Camberwell Girls is the right fit for your family and supports your child’s educational journey.  

Following the interview, you may receive a formal offer of enrolment.  

Offer Acceptance and Enrolment Confirmation

To accept your offer, you must complete and submit the relevant documents by the specified due date. An offer will only be confirmed when payment of the Enrolment Confirmation Fee ($1,000) and The Holding Fee ($1,000) have been made. Please refer to Fees & Business Regulations for further information.  

Enrolment at Camberwell Girls is subject to the parent/s or guardian/s accepting an offer of enrolment by signing the terms and conditions of the Enrolment Agreement. Offers not accepted by the due date may be passed to other applicants.

Frequently asked questions:

When do you commence the Enrolment Review Process?

The enrolment process commences two years in advance for Early Learning 3, Foundation and Year 5 intakes. Year 7 enrolment process occurs three years in advance. All non-intake years are assessed one-year prior to entry.  

We invite you to contact our Admissions team at any time to discuss your child’s place on our waitlist.  

What constitutes a local applicant?

A local applicant is a child who is an:  

  • Australian citizen, or 
  • Australian permanent resident, or 
  • Australian temporary resident.  
How does your waitlist work?

Students will be placed on our waiting list in order of the date we receive your completed Application for Enrolment form. Preference for a place at Camberwell Girls may be given to an affiliation of the School. In no particular order the waitlist may prioritise:  

  • Sibling currently or previously enrolled at the School. 
  • A child of an alum. 
  • Child of a practicing Anglican Clergy employed by a parish. 
  • Child of a permanent staff member of the School. 
  • Resuming student who was offered priority at the time of departure and paid a holding fee. 
  • Date of application. 
  • One of a number of applicants from the same immediate family. 
Can anyone apply to attend Camberwell Girls?

Camberwell Girls is not an academically selective school and is therefore open entry from EL3 to Year 12.   

Does your Early Learning Centre provide guaranteed pathways to Foundation ?

Yes. Whilst our Early Learning Centre is co-educational, only female students of EL3 and EL4 will be guaranteed a place in Foundation.  

Can I defer a place made to me?

Enrolments can be deferred for entry in a later year following an acceptance of offer. In this instance, deferments will be added back to the waitlist and are not guaranteed a place in the following year.
