Carols at Camberwell

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Carols tonight! With the help of our committed parent volunteers, the PFA will run a BBQ stall offering a variety of sausage sizzles to the community.  The PFA will also have Dessert Bar with sweet treats.  A special thanks to our Edible Creation teacher Jennie Goud and her year 9 Edible Creation students who baked the gorgeous and yummy Xmas cookies for sale tonight.   What a meaningful way to engage the teachers, students and the parents to contribute to fund raising activities for our school.

Garden Party

Saturday 12th November saw the most anticipated centenary celebration event, the Centenary Garden Party. Over 280 guests purchased tickets to attend with a marquee on the oval. The guests were treated to delicious food and beverages, live music, lawn games, door prizes, archival displays and so much more.

The guests heard speeches from Principal, Debbie Dunwoody, Alumnae Relationships Coordinator, Karen Bartram, President of the OGA Cara Davey and 2023 School and Vice Captains. A wonderful representation from our wider community were there with old grammarians from across many year levels, past staff dating back many years and a large number of current staff. The mood of the afternoon was of a genuine sense of community and was a fantastic way for everyone to gather together to celebrate the centenary of the school.

Many of the older old grammarians made comments that it was wonderful to see the younger OGs at the event.

Volunteer Thank You Evening

On Thursday 17th November we had the pleasure of thanking our volunteers and supporters who have contributed their time and effort to the school throughout 2022. Volunteers include the PFA committee, Friends of Sport, Friends of Performing Arts, Year Level representatives, parents who have attended various events or activities to assist the school, Old Grammarians Committee and old grammarians who have assisted the school throughout the year. We also invited those who supported our fundraising activities at the Centenary Gala Ball.

It was a lovely evening where we thanked our volunteers for their involve-mint and commit-mint to the school. We also took the opportunity to acknowledge and thank Mrs Cathy Poyser, Deputy Principal for her contributions to the school and her support of the parent and old grammarian volunteer groups. We wish Mrs Poyser all the best in her year of long service leave and look forward to seeing her back at CGGS in 2024.

PFA News

On Tuesday, 15th November, The PFA President and Committee Members were invited to speak and meet the new families of the Foundation – Year 6 at the Orientation Morning in Junior School.  It was encouraging to see a promising number of new parents expressing their interests to sign up and be part of the PFA.  The Second Hand Uniform Shop was also opened after the orientation session to offer the new parents the opportunity to purchase pre-loved uniform for their child(ren) and it was very well received.  What a great opportunity to welcome new parents, connect and engage with current ones and at the same time raise funds for the school!
