Social researchers are predicting that Generation Z, our current Years 7 – 12 students, will have at least 18 jobs, across six different careers/industries. An ongoing priority at CGGS is to support our students to develop agility and tenacity in the way they learn and experience the world, so they are truly prepared for the future.
To complement our curriculum we have developed Upskill, a unique CGGS program designed to expand capabilities and equip students with a solid set of transferable skills that are:
> applicable to all industries
> can be applied in all contexts
> highly valued by employers and society as a whole
The 21st century learner is digitally savvy, socially engaged, enterprising and entrepreneurial. Whilst they are still hungry for foundational knowledge and skills that are part of all subject disciplines, our students and their employers want more.
As a school, CGGS is genuinely willing to engage with this challenge and as a result, we have designed 17 Upskill days to be rolled out in 2023. Partnering with universities, external organisations and industry experts, the Upskill program delivers age-appropriate, relevant, engaging and immersive learning for all our students.
Students have the opportunity to earn stand-alone microcredentials which certify their achievements in specific skills or capabilities. These credentials contribute to each student’s digital portfolio, which they can share with employers and tertiary institutions.
Our multiple programs across Years 7 – 12 have all been designed to ‘upskill’ our CGGS students.
