We have compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions and answered them for you.
Students must be three years of age before 1 January of their entry year into EL3, and four years of age before 30 April of their entry year into EL4.
> Early Learning 3 and Year 5 intakes – 2 years in advance
> Year 7 intakes – 3 years in advance
> All other year levels – 1 year in advance
Applications are generally prioritised by date of application, however waiting lists can change as applicants move from one year level to another. As waitlists can change, we are not able to provide your child’s position on the waitlist at any point in time.
We send an Admissions Questionnaire at the start of the formal enrolment process to all families on the waitlist. This form must be submitted to move to the next stage of the enrolment process. Returning this form confirms your interest in receiving an offer of enrolment. We also ask for up-to-date information regarding your child. Offers of enrolment are made at the Principal’s discretion.
CGGS is an open-entry school. We do not require an entry test as part of the enrolment process (except for a scholarship application). In the months prior to commencing, we ask students to sit literacy and numeracy testing to assist with getting to know your child.
CGGS is an open-entry school and we welcome students from diverse backgrounds. We offer a comprehensive academic and VCE program for our students, as well as a broad range of co-curricular and House activities, camps programs, clubs and leadership opportunities in a community focused environment.
If your child is not offered a place in your preferred year of entry, you have the opportunity to defer your child’s application to a later year’s waitlist.
You can transfer your child to another waitlist by emailing or phoning the Admissions Office to amend your existing application. You do not need to submit a new application to transfer to another waitlist.
Our Orientation Program is designed to make the transition to a new school a welcoming and positive experience. We want all students to feel a part of our community as soon as they step inside the gates. We provide opportunities prior to starting for your child to get to know her fellow students and teachers as we want all students to feel happy and settled. We will be in contact with you in the months leading up to the first day of school with details of our Orientation Program.
We have a range of scholarships available in Year 5, and across Years 7 – 11, with the largest number available for Year 7 entry. We encourage you to visit the ‘Scholarship’ page of our website for more information.
CGGS is well serviced by train, tram and bus. Visit the ‘Location’ page of our website to read the multiple ways your child can travel to CGGS.
