This morning, members of our School community gathered on the Secondary School oval, with Barbara Sutton Hall as a backdrop, to officially kick off its much-anticipated redevelopment.
Students, staff, council members, life governors, and donor representatives came together to celebrate this significant milestone, each contributing to the future of our cherished Hall. We were also thrilled to have our project partners, including 2Construct, MGS Architects, Accuraco Project Management, and Prowse Quantity Surveyors, in attendance. Our broader community, including parents, donors, and alum, were invited to participate via livestream, sharing in the joy and importance of this event.
The ceremony was an opportunity to reflect on and honour Barbara Sutton Hall’s lasting legacy —a venue that has nurtured connection, celebration, and community for over 35 years—while looking forward to the exciting redevelopment ahead.
We were honoured to have Former Principal Dr Barbara Fary OAM with us. Barbara recalls walking through the Barbara Sutton Hall construction site in 1988, just before it was finished, prior to her commencement as Principal. It is particularly special that she was present at the Hall’s redevelopment commencement.
We also had the privilege of being joined by Murrundindi, Head Man and Elder of the Wurundjeri tribe, who gave a Welcome to Country – a meaningful occasion of reflection and spiritual grounding that paid homage to the Country and the traditional custodians of this land.
As we enter this next chapter of redevelopment, we extend our gratitude to all who have supported this project so far and we look forward to sharing updates as construction progresses in the coming weeks.
