We don’t just want our Camberwell girls to use technology, we want them to be creators of it.
Coding, the art of telling a computer how to perform complex tasks is a skill that our students will need in their future.
At Camberwell Girls, we are putting this power into the hands and hearts of our students and therefore opportunities to learn how to code have been introduced at all year levels.
NAO, DASH and DOT, SPHERO and BlueBOTS are all permanent robot members of our School community and are creating opportunities for our Camberwell girls to learn to code.
Partnerships with Xero and Telstra have also seen Code Clubs formed at both the Junior and Senior School and experts from each organisation run weekly coding workshops with our eager students and staff.
Who is NAO?
But why teach our children to code?
Because our students are growing up in a radically different world to the one that their parents and teachers grew up in.
Today, most people, including our students carry a computer in their pocket. It is connected to every other device owned by that person and can access virtually any information desired, nearly instantaneously. The pace of change in computing is extraordinary.
Software is the language of our world and it’s becoming a critical layer of all our lives.
