Parents and Friends Association
Parents & Friends Association (PFA)
The Parents and Friends Association is focused on building a network and sense of community between parents in the school community.
This occurs through a number of friendraising (building your network of friends as parents) and fundraising activities (to fund extracurricular equipment and activities above and beyond what the school would provide for the betterment of our students).
These activities are aimed at providing opportunities for families to socialise and contribute to our school and include the Autumn Fiesta Parent Welcome Drinks, morning teas and school community fundraising events, such as the Trivia Night. The PFA also provides support to school-run activities in the areas of Music and Drama, Sport and Science.
The PFA’s primary objective is friendraising, however the Parents and Friends Association uses funds raised, along with the Term 2 Parents & Friends Association voluntary contribution, to help fund extra-curricular purchases outside of the normal operational budget of the school.
In recent years, the PFA has been proud to co-fund two programmable NAO robots for the STEAM program, upgrade the turf and running track on the Senior Oval, purchase a grand piano for the school’s music program and racing equipment in support of the school’s swimming pool upgrade, Prowise Screens; as well as fund wellbeing programs for parents and students, to name a few.

PFA Events and Meetings
Parents and Friends meetings are open for all members of the CGGS parent community to attend.
These monthly meetings include discussions about the friendraising and fundraising activities of the PFA, items purchased for the school community, plus a report from Principal Debbie Dunwoody.
Attending these meetings provides valuable insight into school happenings and activities and is a great way to meet other parents and share ideas.
Year Level Representatives
The Year Level Reps provide a very important link between the school and parents. Being a Year Level Representative is a very rewarding role which involves organising year level functions that are friendly, low key events that provide a wonderful opportunity for parents to get to know each other.
In addition, Year Level Reps welcome new parents to the school and can assist the Foundation Office with the Mother’s and Father’s Day Breakfasts, the Twilight Picnic, the Junior School Disco and any other smaller events throughout the year.
Year Level Rep Meetings
There is one Year Level Rep Meeting held each term, which are friendly, informal gatherings allowing Reps to chat about the events they held and share suggestions and ideas about engaging the families in their year level.

Parent Groups
There are many groups that parents can join to lend a hand at the school, get involved and meet others in the community.
Friends of Sport
The main aim of Friends of Sport is to support the students and staff of CGGS at sporting events and to promote sport to the school and wider community.
The involvement of parents includes providing refreshments and support at carnivals as well as the Celebration of Sport Evening and, most importantly, providing moral support at sporting events.
Friends of The Arts
The main aim of Friends of The Arts is to support the students and staff of CGGS in their Art, Music and Drama performances and to help promote those events to the school and wider community.
Friends of The Arts provide pre-show refreshments at the Music, Dance and Drama performances; greeting guests and serving food and beverages to those attending the performances. It is a great way to meet CGGS parents and families.
Friends of STEAM
The main aim of Friends of STEAM (the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics programs) is to support the students and staff of CGGS in their learning and discovery in all these areas.

CGGS Dads Group
The school is delighted to have a partnership with an amazing organisation called The Fathering Project. This organisation delivers resources, programs and events specific to the engagement style and needs of fathers and father-figures.
The Parents and Friends Association is proud to have a new parent sub-group known as The CGGS Dads Group. This parent group is run by CGGS dads for CGGS dads, with the aim of engaging fathers and father-figures within the school community, with other dads, and also with their daughters. The CGGS Dads Group will hold social events where dads can gather, share, learn and network with each other. They will also plan activities and events for the community in which dads and daughters can participate together.
