We are pleased to share two important milestones in the redevelopment of Barbara Sutton Hall: formal planning approval has now been granted, and our Head Contractor has been officially appointed. These developments signal a significant step forward as we move closer to construction.
Following a competitive closed tender process, we are delighted to welcome 2Construct – a Melbourne-based firm with deep expertise in educational and performing arts construction. As Head Contractor, 2Construct will oversee all aspects of the build, coordinating trades and ensuring the highest standards of site safety and delivery. With a strong track record in delivering complex, high quality projects within the education sector, their team brings capability and commitment to this important transformation.
Working closely with our experienced project managers, 2Construct has hit the ground running. The project is progressing ahead of schedule, with early-stage planning enabling several works to be brought forward in the timeline.
To mark the beginning of this exciting chapter, our Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place on Thursday, 15 May. A livestream will be available for members of our community to join remotely. This ceremonial event will formally acknowledge the commencement of works and recognise the many individuals and groups who have shaped the project to date, including our community of donors, architects, project managers and staff
Site mobilisation is expected to begin the week following the ceremony, with construction formally commencing in late May.
This is a defining moment in the redevelopment of Barbara Sutton Hall. We look forward to keeping you informed as the project continues.
