Clearing the Way: The Transformation Begins

Work on the Barbara Sutton Hall redevelopment has entered its first major phase of construction, with demolition now well underway and progressing as planned.

The initial stage commenced with a soft demolition process. This involved the careful removal of internal fittings, seating, carpets and other materials to strip the building back to its structural shell. These preparatory works provided safe access for the more extensive demolition tasks that followed.

During the Term 2 holiday period, the construction team undertook major demolition works. The entire front façade was dismantled, including all windows and frames, clearing the way for the development of an extended and modernised foyer.

At the rear of the building, along Woodstock Street, key structural sections were also removed. Internally, large-scale clearances were completed to enable future reconfiguration of the space. These activities were scheduled to take place during the school holiday break to minimise disruption to teaching and learning.

With the majority of the demolition now nearing completion, the project is preparing to enter its next phase. This will include foundational groundwork and the reconstruction of the newly designed front façade – marking a visible step forward in the transformation of Barbara Sutton Hall.
